How to Make Sriracha BBQ Roasted Brussels Sprouts:
Brussels Sprouts
For the brussels sprouts, I find that using fresh tends to work better if you want them to get crispy. However, bags of frozen brussels sprouts are often cheaper.
If you use fresh, I recommend slicing them in half before roasted. If you use frozen, you can either bake them whole from frozen or let them defrost and then chop them in half.
Sauce
For the sauce, I typically just make my own with what I have on hand but you could also buy a premade sriracha bbq sauce from the store. Trader Joe’s has a super delicious one that I love!
Instructions:
For the brussels sprouts, I find that broiling them at 425 F gets them the most crispy. Set your oven to broil and allow the oven the heat up while you prepare the sauce.
Slice the brussels sprouts in half and spray a baking sheet with olive oil and lay the brussels sprouts on the pan. Mix together the bbq sauce, sriracha sauce, minced garlic, maple syrup, and olive oil. Coat the brussels sprouts in the sauce and spray with a light dusting of olive oil.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
Benefits of Brussels Sprouts:
Brussels sprouts belong to the cruciferous vegetable family, making them one of the most nutrient-dense vegetables. Other vegetables in this family include broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and collard greens.
Brussels sprouts are rich in:
- vitamin K
- vitamin C
- fiber
They are also very high in antioxidants, which makes them a great vegetable to add into our diet as they can help with disease prevention. They also contain some omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential fats that help prevent inflammation and heart disease.
